letting go
There are traditionally 10,000 unnecessary things that we need be free of. Some of those things are external objects, and some of those things are internal.
Being up to date within the external relationship and the internal relationship requires an understanding that everything is in change.
Enter the practice rather than enter the suffering. Really we are working with minding our own business. Even within mind there are many mental objects that are none of our business; they are the remains of that which has been in the past and have nothing to do with us as we are here and now.
Place the attention fully within the sensation or experience, rather than relating to the sensation or experience from a distance. Become one with that sensation, become one with the direction. Do not relate to it, do not set yourself apart from it, instead merge. That goes for any suffering; pain of separation, pain of loss, grief, fearfulness. Just keep in touch with it. Then, as you become more in touch with it, there will be less tightening and more ease.
Give yourself permission to be happy, to be well and to be free from fear.
Consider how it is the background of silence that enables you to hear music. The more you appreciate silence the more you appreciate the music. Similarly, stillness allows you to experience the action you engage in more clearly. You feel the energy moving and experience more subtle physical patterns because of the environment of stillness you have created.
Investigate letting the breath go, letting the body melt and open.
Be aware of the facial expression. It is the fearful face that refuses to go into newness. That is the face you have to take to the mirror in order to know its nature. Fear prevents us from developing, it prevents us from working in areas that we need to work and grow in. Recognising fear is very important. We are very clever at hiding fear and thus very clever at preventing growth. Wherever you make a step that can challenge the paralysing effect of fear, note how you got there. Within that you are learning how you let go of fear.
